I am going to get a new barrel, don't really think it's such a good idea using the current one. This one is old and therefore cannot trust it's integrity and besides it would be better to start a fresh.

So this is going to be moved down the garden and will better for the lilies in the long run as they will get more sunlight there. :]

Or this is what I used for drinking trough for the horses fairly indestructible, never cracked in the freezing weather, but maybe too small, don't know if you can get larger sizes?

Thank you for the ideas Staffy, but the barrel I have is a full half barrel so no raised bottom or should I say base, sounds a tad rude, anyhow you can usually buy them for around £40. All I will need to do is put in a small liner and we're away. :]

...does that mean the new barrel might accidentally-on purpose turn out to be a bit larger than the old one? ;)
