oooo Rockingham Forest :D
That’d be the one :D
I've been to Rockingham Castle and sort of tagged onto a tour that was going on. One of the early owners of the castle & village decided he did not want to look at the villagers and had the whole shebang relocated to the other side of the castle - crazy
Literally down the road from us. Googlemaps says 30min walk, so about 15-20min for me and my OH :D

I went to Dunham Massey yesterday, a long walk in the sun but some great wildlife to be seen on the way there, and in the park. The green woodpecker was my favourite, though from what I saw they are more groundpeckers than woodpeckers!

So true! Never seen a green woodpecker on a tree, yet. Only ever on the ground :D

It did fly into a tree when I got a bit too close, but it only paused there a moment before going back to the ground and another tasty nest of ants!
What I hadn't realised is that they have a really bright yellow-green back concealed under the wings. A bit like a kingfisher, they have a flash of a different colour in flight.

They cannot even get our national Union Standard correct! It is upside down.... so is signalling "Distress" which I suppose is right for Boris.
