Which type of gallon is typically used when it comes to fish tank volume... is it US or UK gallon?
I'm thinking both in terms of tank volume but also for meds etc for example I recently bought some doctor tims ammonia and it said 4 drops per gallon but had no idea if it meant US or UK gallon, is there a standard which is usually used?

Dr Tims is Merkin and uses US Gallons.
From what I've seen majority of references to Gallons are the smaller inferior colonial variety ;o)

The stoopid mercans just refuse to give up the ancient Imperial system: even though they made a balls of it! a Mercan Gallon is 6.66 of our (correct) pints, not 8 as it should be. That means that a Quart isn't 2 Pints, its 1.66.
But a US 'DRY' Quart is 1.93 our our Pint. A DRY Gallon is therefore 7.75 Pints.
Then they have a measurement they call 'A Cup'...this varies in size, depending on what it is you are measuring...Cups are many different sizes
No wonder they cocked up the Hubble Telescope, the majority of parts came from the Modern World, so were all made in Metric, can't go wrong there, its just numbers and then 1/10/ 1/100 etc. But they had to convert to things like 997/5674ths inch, 348 flindonells of a quandle, and they ot it wrong! The lens didn't fit....100% true

I hear the Metric system was inverted by an Englishman, I don't feel so bad about using it anymore.
