You might want to think about moving your heater to 45 degrees, over time their longevity seems to be shortened when mounted vertically. ;)

Interesting I had heard of them being mounted on the 45 I didn’t realise it had an impact on their lifespan.
I guess when they’re in the vertical they sort of heat themselves...heat rising and all that.
Hit the nail on the head :)
They also spread out the heat to the water column when angled instead of heating straight up in a narrow column. Hope that makes sense :)

Makes total sense! One of the reasons I placed it in front of the outlet of the U4 which I’m running in the “middle” setting which basically has a long vertical row of vents all the way from top to bottom rather than just coming out the top or bottom outlet. If that makes sense?! ::crazy::

Thanks Stephen! It'll be good once the plant life has filled out a bit, and I've fiddled with the arrangement of the wood some more.
Just checked the PH agains the tap water for the first time since I filled it and its well down from a tap reading of 7.2, to about 6.4. I was surprised by this much of a drop but I guess so long as its staying stable it's going to be fine for the types I'm planning to keep.
