UPDATE 27/9/20 :

Still the same - no change
Ammonia 4ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Started cycling 9/9/20

It's so hard to get accurate picture without casting shadows of say the colours you can say are ever so slightly lighter

Do a 50% water change and retest - don't add more ammonia.

Great stuff I'll do that I added some drift wood and left it to soak in a bucket for 2 days then scrubbed it under the shower then let it dry ..it has made the water a little murky will the filter clear it up after a few days ?

Also with the 50% water change should I add de- chloronizer ? And how much thanks @plankton

The water will stay murky until you do water changes. Might take some time until it goes clear. If you really hate it, you can use purigen, but it's not a bad thing.

Follow the guidelines on the dechlorinator, yes you should use it

1/10/20 FINALLY
Ammonia : 2-3ppm
Nitrite: 0.25ppm
PH: 8.4 (it's gone up from 8.2)
But finally some Nitrite what do I need to do next guys ? Also I'm totally not sure why the PH has gone up - I thought the tannins off the drift wood would bring it down ? The tank looks so murky - but with the cycle presumably starting I wouldn't want to change water should I go the purigen route ?

No need to use purigen, carbon etc.. whilst cycling.
If you have movement on the ammonia (going down) and movement on the nitrite (going up) then the cycle has started.
Keep monitoring, when the ammonia drops to close to zero then top up the ammonia to 2ppm (no more). The nitrite will still rise but that's a good thing during the cycle.
Then repeat, monitor, ammonia drops to close to zero, top up the ammonia to 2ppm (then repeat).
