Big trim and tidy up this weekend. Lots of excess vallis transferred to the hospital tank where it can provide cover and then be thrown away when it dies or when the meds are finished. The vallis still needs to send runners into a few gaps along the back and sides that I’d like it to fill, but seems to prefer trying to invade the foreground from the middle instead!
The Amazon frogbit is doing so well, I have given up counting how many I have! It covers most of the back half of the tank, except for the corner where the circulation pump sits (plus there’s a couple of bits in the hospital tank too). I keep it at the back so that the white roots blend in a little with the plants, and letting it make roots stops it being blown around too much. All the salvinia has now died, I guess it just didn’t like my water. Some duckweed still remains, but not much compared to the unintentional blanket I used to have on my old tank. Overall there’s lots of surface cover, which is ideal for the Endler fry. I’ve counted 6 today, but it could easily be more.
My Amazon sword plantlets are growing slowly, but a long way to go until they are really visible - one is just poking over the wood on the left hand side. I also planted a couple of trimmings from the broad-leafed stem plant whose name I cannot retain in that corner, hoping eventually something will disguise the pump a little.
Some of the crypts on the right had grown squished up against the front glass, so I’ve moved them back to fill the gap in front of the right hand bit of wood. They should balance out the big group on the other side eventually.
Overall I’m really pleased with the tank at the moment!

I needed cheering up last night from losing over half of my corys, otherwise I was basically sat looking at the ones that are left waiting for them to look better/worse. So I decided to make a video of the main tank and learn how to post it. I made a YouTube channel just for my fish, and hopefully this should be the video...
Woohoo, took 3 goes but I’ve done it!

The livebearers crack me up, 3m 1f, so everyone tries having a go
I see your also going to challenge Ian for most MTS in one tank, you have a “little” catching up to do
Looking good everyone looks happy and i also spotted the minuscule fry that went off into the plants around 15-18seconds from the end! That or its a reflection that has managed to trick me

To the tune of “the saints go marching in”:
Oh fluffy sheep! Oh fluffy sheep! Oh fluffy sheep are wonderful, they’re white Welsh and fluffy! Oh fluffy sheep are wonderful!

Soon my friend your aquarium will look like the inside of a Sardine tin.

There are more females than males overall, just not in shot! Also I did remove about 50 MTS from the front glass before I filmed. If it’s a contest I’ll leave them there next time!Gingerlove05 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 12:37 pm The livebearers crack me up, 3m 1f, so everyone tries having a go

There were several minuscule fry, but not sure how good my phone is at picking them up.

What a great name for a website! Although they don’t seem to have that strain of Endlers any longer. Do you still have yours?Martinspuddle wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 12:53 pm I started with one male and one female supplied by Tartan Guppy
