Hi there

I kept fish about 10 years ago however haven’t kept them since and thought I’d ask for help here! Things might have changed and I’m considering myself a newbie again! We are looking at getting an aquarium for our kitchen and was wondering if the following stock would be OK? Currently deciding between the 5 gallon Fluval Chi and the 12 gallon Fluval Edge for Coldwater fish.

Fluval Chi:
3 Endlers Guppy
3 Clown Killifish
10 Cherry Shrimp
2 Zebra snail

Or

1 Betta
10 Cherry Shrimp (I have concerns these may be eaten by the betta!)
2 Zebra Snail

Fluval Edge:
5 Endlers Guppy
5 Clown Killifish
5 Gold Cloud Mountain Minnows
10 Cherry Shrimp
Small group of dwarf catfish (either Asian Stone Catfish or Dwarf Cory’s)
2 Zebra Snails

Is there any other option for me with these Coldwater tanks? I love bristlenose plecs, would they be an option for the 12 gallon?

Thank you! 😊

Just to say - the endlers would be a male only group!

Also any information from experience with either of these tanks would be so helpful - I like the 12 gallon edge however the small opening at the top makes me worry about access.

Thanks!

Edge is no good for bettas due to the opening, you’d have to run it with an inch air gap which defeats the purpose of the tank.

Endlers would be a better choice in the edge 🙂

Thanks for your reply! Would the endlers be OK in the Chi too?

Is it the smallest chi they do? If so, I’d say it’s a bit small.

It’s a 5 gallon one - I can’t seem to get the 6.6 gallon in the UK, only the US.

Then I’d have to say the edge, but don’t keep labyrinth fish ( gourami, betta etc ) as there isn’t enough air at the top for their needs. 🙂 the edge tanks do make pretty nice shrimp setups too if that isn’t something you have considered.

Welcome to the forum. :)
I agree, the Chi is too small for endlers. The white clouds may nip the endlers (especially in small groups).
I'd have six of each of the others and 6-8 dwarf corys, probably hastatus if you can find them, with the shrimp and snails. :)
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! :D

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!
