Hi folks,

Over the last 4 days nitrites have been appearing at around 2 to 5 ppm (on one day it must have been high as had to do a 75% water change just to get it down to 2 ppm) and ammonia is at lower levels (around 0.25 ppm) . Also i am getting around 20 to 40 ppm nitrates.

Pure luck that this is readings for my fishless tank and my fish in cycle im doing. Do I just still test daily and water change to keep nitrites as low as possible?

Could i get away with transferring the 2 fish into the fishless cycle tank just now as the readings are practically the same or should I wait it out and complete each cycle independently then transfer the fish?

Cheers

It sounds like its not cycled yet.
Are you dosing ammonia? It will need to be topped up to 2ppm until nitrites and ammonia drop to 0 overnight.

For the fish in cycle, yes keep doing daily water changes if any ammonia or nitrite is visible.
