I've learned the hard way that our initial plan for a 25L starter aquarium wasn't appropriate and am now planning to dedicate it to our Betta (male). Are there any suitable tank mates for him or is he best left completely alone?
We're novice fish keepers and I'm asking so we can enjoy a range of fish with 1 or 2 tanks, but don't want to compromise the welfare of the fish.
(I now appreciate that a Betta may not have been the best choice if we wanted a range of fish, but he's here and much loved now so we need to work around him)
Suitable tank-mate for a Betta in 25L aquarium?

Best left alone as they are very hit and miss.

Silly thought went through my head reading this ...would you put another inmate in with Britain's most notorious prisoner Charles Bronson?
Probably best not too!
Seriously, think a Nerite snail would be about the safest thing with your size aquarium.

Come to think of it @fr499y, don't think they where available in the 1990's.
