Hi,

I was using Seachem Prime to condition my regular water changes but was gifted a bottle of API Aqua Essential.

Noticed the pH drop and so I did some testing. Tap water sits 7.2. Tap water + AE hits 6.4. Thats tested using a 15L bucket of treated water and the 5ml test tubes, each treated with the recommended dose. It looks like the product is lowering the pH but when I tried searching if it will the only relevant result I am seeing states that it will not affect pH if dosed correctly.

Has anyone had any similar experience with this or able to provide some insight?

You say this bottle of API Aqua Essential was gifted to you. Was it sealed when it was given to you?

I'm wondering if it's been mixed with some API pH DOWN.

It was sealed and is in date. The gifter doesnt keep any fish atm and handed a bag a goodies over. I'm conscious because my tap water is soft and can pH crash fairly easily.

Does the ph drop overnight if you leave tap water in a receptacle overnight, what is the ph in the tank normally?
I'm wondering if there's something else going on here....
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! :D

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

I was thinking the same but that's one hell of a drop pH 7.2 to 6.4.

Think his fish are up to something ...perhaps their brewing moonshine in there. :dodgy2:
