I have been making some effort to keep on top of the pond weed so I can actually see at least part way in, I have tried using surface plants for cover but all that happened then is the weed got taffled with the algae and I couldn't remove it, there was lots of frogspawn but not seen any tadpoles, not seen any baby newts either but it's a bit early for that, but I have been able to watch the adult newts, the males look quite impressive with their spots and frilly tails
