Has anyone used this test kit? every time I use it the test result is 0% for Ammonia, but yet my NT LABS kit shows 0.5 it's just my cichlids are still not eating.
Do these test kits have a used by date, my NT kit is probably a year or so old.

Test kits have never been consitant across the board, and to my to mind unless your going to use a laboratory you will never a definitive answer.

Sailfert are suppose to be the best tests for Marine and Reef aquariums, mine where always fairly consitant, if somewhat expensive.

I meant to say, I never trust an out of date test. Your better off buying a fresh kit that is in date more chance of getting the more accurate reading that way.

Have you test marine or freshwater?

Yes the colour chart is different, but the results between the two test kits are quite different.

There is a difference between the tests but only because of density of saltwater, something to do with the Ions in the water, I'm not a chemist. The results for NH3/4 should be the same which you probably find is what you got. Out of interest my JBL NH3/4 test always tells me the result is 0.5 but I'm not worried there is always a small amount detectable in any water volume and before you ask, it's for freshwater. :H

Still reading 0.5 Ammonia, so I decided to test the tap water, guess what the tap water reads 0.5, is that normal?
My fish are still not eating and I am getting worried.
