When I move house in the next month, there are few places I can place my tank as it’s very large. The most appropriate place will get a lot of sunlight directly onto the tank.

Is this a complete no no or is there something I can do to minimise the effects? I’m curious as well because a local estate agents office has their tank in full sunlight and it never seems to have algae. Thank you,

It depends really. Does it get sunlight all day or just a few hours?
You might need to clean the glass a bit more often, but if the aquarium is well balanced, you shouldn't have too much of a problem when it comes to algae. The heat from the sun in the summer months could be more of a problem than anything else.

The sun would be on it for most of the day. As for the heat of the sun, then yes that would be a bother! I don’t want to be in a situation where algae is growing rampant as a result.

During the summer months my tank gets direct sunlight for a few hours around midday. I put a makeshift blind on the tank as I'm usually at work during these times

The Estate agents may have someone who comes in early and cleans it off before the start of the working day....................

Both my aquariums are right next to window go only get sunlight first thing in the morning for around three hours .... Kinda handy to get fish to spawn! I use this time as part of my lighting photo period.

If you're really that stuck you could use blackout curtains and leave them shut in bright periods or leave your lights off and only had them on in the evenings.
