Welcome to the forum.
As @VikingMummy2015 pointed out, you do have quite a mix of fish with different requirements, not to mention 4 different types of cichlid in a small space, which will bring about aggression issues down the line.
Perhaps start a tank log, where we will bombard you with lots and lots of questions to help you get your tank stable, peaceful and enjoyable.

Welcome to the forum.
As others have said, there are an awful lot of fish in there, even for a 300l.
If the tank was previously run as a reptile tank, how did you clean it out?
if you've had problems that would be my first (or second) question......

Thanks all. I must admit I think I have read and over read to the point of confusion. We made an awful mistake a couple of weeks ago whereby a friend donated 4 large red jewels to us and that completely ruined the ambience. The angel fish has not been the same so we quickly donated theme elsewhere. Water wise I try to change 50% every 2 weeks, and temperature is at 27 degrees. For the time being we are not going to add any more to the tank as we were getting carried away so it is time to rein it back in! A local aquarium fish supplier told me to change white layer filters once a month, green every 6 weeks but just to wash the blue and black ones in the tank water and use until they are no longer spongy. Does this seem right?

rinse them out in old tank water when the flow reduces. Floss will need to be changed once it gets clogged up as it tends to fall to bits when rinsed.
No need to wash the filters at a set date ( aka 4 weeks or 6 weeks ) as it all depends on stocking. Keep the green sponge as well, just treat them all the same and rinse one at a time.
