Are you dosing with a filter medium, like Easylife's Filter Fluid Medium, Seachem's Stability to name a few or drop into the sump a media bag of Ammonia Remover like Seachem Purigen?

Don't have anything like that to hand at the moment, can get some Friday when I'm off work.

Currently doing another water change as still showing low levels of ammonia again this evening

The python was a brilliant purchase, making doing all these water changes very easy. Put it in and wait 20 minutes, adjust tap temp flip the valve and back filled up again in 20 minutes no mess.

Ammonia levels are lower today, not much at all now just a slight green colour to the API test.

So going in the right direction

Haven't done a water change since yesterday and still barely showing 0.25ppm ammonia so going to leave it tonight and check again tomorrow.

From my brief experience the API ammonia test always showed a slight green tint where the NT kit read a perfect zero

Yeah I usually do a "control" test of tap water when it's only slightly green so I can compare.

So left it for 2 days with no water changes, in my (simple) mind made sense to leave a bit of ammonia in there to let the bacteria build up if I keep taking it out they won't grow as much I guess? Obviously didn't let it get above 0.25-0.5 on the test.

And this morning's test...

Back to yellow ammonia is gone 👍

Now that the water parameters are back on track, my next things to do (before adding more fish) ;
1. Try and make it a bit quieter... This thing sounds like having a jacuzzi in your living room.
2. Get plants
3. Get some filter floss as small bits floating around/might be bubbles because of how turbulent the water is hitting the sump.

Trying to work out some new plumbing for making the sump quieter and also possibly changing the pump as i think it's a bit overkill at 3200lph?

In the mean time the rams are looking nice and colourful at the moment and everyone seems happy in the tank.
