Background

:huh: I am thinking about making a 3d background for inside my cichlid tank out of polystyrene and paint it with acrylic paint but have hit a brick wall with what product to use to seal it with to stop the ink being pecked of by the fish when grazing on algae, please someone help I'm going nuts!!! Thanks for any advice you can give

Ah, sorry, can't help. Have seen videos on youtube and tank logs on a previous forum where people have done those from scratch. Never paid much attention to the material used, was too amazed at the skill and craftmanship and artistry some people have.

Concrete to seal it before painting ( adds weight as well ) you might want to soak it for a while till the lime in the cements stops leaching and buffering the PH too high ( although might not be an issue if they are Malawi's )
Paint it with acrylic paint and then seal it with an acrylic clear coat ( some people say plasti-dip clear is safe but not 100% sure )
