I take it you've never seen David Saxby's reef aquarium in his London home. Its dimensions, at 13,640 l/3,000 gallons.
You can read about it here, Practical Fishkeeping

It's all to do with lighting spectrums which much tropical marine life needs to survive.Staffylover wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 12:03 pm Very nice, I have a question for all you ex/ current marine keepers why in marine tanks is the light always blue? don't they like it too bright

No black outs for algae then! It must take a lot of time and dedication to run a reef tank, but very interesting the corals as much as the fish, I've seen them in shops the luminous ones are certainly impressive

I remember reading about one marine tank, not sure whether this was David Saxby's, where the owner built a separate room next to the tank just to accommodate all the tech and equipment. Quite impressive, seeing those tanks so well done.
Strangely, though, that its hard to find such a large tank set up as a planted / tropical tank or even a really nice temperate or coldwater tank.

W. O. W. Beautiful.
The whole house also looked stunning. I love the whole idea of the minimalist look (not going to achieve it, but I like it!).
