I was feeding my fish based on the valuable advice received on here- once a day.
Been reading up on my Bolivian ram care and came across this:
“A large quantity of food once a day can deteriorate water quality while small pinches of food several times per day allows you to maintain a higher water quality over time.”
What is your opinion on this? And is there any truth in this?
Thanks!!
How many times you feed your fish?

I feed once a day (with the odd day off) in all 3 of my tanks .
Yes its true that potentially small pinches throughout the day can help with water quality but I'm working on the basis that all 3 of them I'm lucky enough to always see triple zeroes whenever I check the parameters.

If your lucky enough to have low nitrates out the tap then 1 big feed is fine. Making sure you dont just chuck the whole lot in. Drip it in gradually.
Mine are high out the tap so prefer 2 smaller feeds to avoid potential spikes.

I feed once a day at approx. the same time every day.
I feed the tetra first to distract them followed by my cichlids and then the cory (unless I'm feeding frozen/fresh food)
My fish are not fat/thin so hopefully I'm not over/under feeding.
Stay safe & healthy everyone

As long as you don't overfeed, once a day shouldn't be a problem.
I feed at least three times a day to help encourage my rare livebearers to breed and successfully drop their fry. Also it just seems nicer for the fish to have multiple smaller feeds, probably closer to how they would feed in the wild.

Like most people, I feed once a day, 5-6 times per week. More out of practical considerations: normally I would be at work so could not drop in several feeds throughout the day. I guess if you are around all the time, then you can adapt the regime to fit in with life.

It's so hard, especially on days off, they all float at the front of the tank, staring at me with sad, hungry faces! I have dramatically reduced my feeding as my levels and mess in the tank was awful. Im now once a day, a small amount and if they get through that in under 2 mins, a tiny bit more, just making sure it all gets eaten.
I now have some of the stick to the glass fish treats that I stick on at a weekend and they enjoy gnawing at that.
Also a few frozen blood worms before water change/tank maintenance
