How about mentioning that if you artificially increase kH to aid the cycle, you need to slowly decrease it once cycled. I ended up with a fish-in mini-cycle from not knowing this! Seems obvious now, but it"s all confusing at the time.

Yes, VM, thanks. I have this on my list but haven't settled on how to tackle it. It's how much detail to go into really, given that some, most or all of the relevant 'bacteria' may not be 'bacteria' at all, depending on the in-tank environment!  I'm trying to aim the text principally at beginners and they may not be interested in the intricacies (not that I'm claiming to be any kind of expert beyond being a hobbyist who's read a bit around the subject, you understand).
