still happily processing the ammonia, just these pesky nitrite munchers.

Yes I could do a water change but.......

I just want to see it looking after itself ;o)

Just out of curiosity, how hard is the water in Ilkeston? If it's a lot harder (which I think it might be - around 15dGH?) it may be worth ramping up the bicarb......

ahhhhhhh that might be part of the problem.

Just noticed that one of the 2 filters wasn't bubbling away. Airline had got kinked somehow

yup that might have helped :)

Nice to note it appears (initially at least) to have "almost coped" on just the one filter, well certainly for ammonia, bit off for nitrites

(I read that in a pirate voice for some reason....maybe it was the ahhhhhhh at the beginning)
That won't help, as it may also mean that the munchers are dying and giving off more bacteria than the nitrite munchers can handle......
