Well what seems to have been such a long wait my Aquarium is now here, will be making this my Tank log now, hope to keep you all up to date with lots of pics at each stage of my journey. Tank is resting on my dinning table at the moment, ready for me to paint the back black. Sand is being delivered tomorrow, 50kg of Kivu, Redwood should be here by Saturday, but will need soaking until saturated and will sink, got two pieces roughly 45-60cm long, must have had the last two large pieces left at Aquarium Gardens as now out of stock, so that was lucky on my part, lol.

Next job, build the cabinet, probably tomorrow now, as my better half is out.  :)

Thanks for dropping by.

Ian

Question, what's the best way to remove the internal filter, I am sure I read somewhere on here that a box saw is best, ? Any thought please.

I used a hair dryer to loosen the sticky bits and used a butter knife to leverage the box away from the glass and then used a stanly knife to remove the left over bits.

Extendable craft knife (the ones you can break the tips off on) it flexes a bit to allow you access but still allows you to cut through the silicone :) thats how i did my vision. You might just have to peel/scrape off any remanining silicone.

Ooo... really looking forward to watching this come together Ian.

In the past I've used either a scalel or steak knife. Always came away with no probs.

I'll stick around - but I must say that the table probably won't hold the tank full of water! :D

Very nice tank Ian. :)
Can I ask why you didn't go for an equivalent make if you're taking the filter out anyway?
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! :D

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!
