They apparently struggle a bit on 'advanced' plants, but apart from that they seem ok. I've not used the fluval since the first version.

Take a look at the twinstar or Chihiros RGB+W lights as well as they are really good for the money.

Just a thought...

Juwel GMBH can be very annoying by releasing German language videos, especially when there's no subtitles.

From what I understand the Juwel HeliaLux Spectrum controller does offer a lot more flexibility compared to the Fluval Plant 3.0 software.

I believe the Jewel Controller has several presets, so might be the better option.

About to pull the trigger on the Juwel HaliaLux Spectrum 1500 and the HeliaLux smart controller.

The good thing is it just relaces the existing light unit, and the two hoods slot onto it the same as before, magnifico..

Thanks for the input guys.

Edit:
All ordered from CharterHouse -Aquatics, good price as well, £445 for both items using my points redemption :) Will be here tomorrow. :D

Hi Stephen.

It was a choice of the Plant 3.0 and the HeliaLux Spectrum, the latter has more programmability so went with that, only downside is it's not Bluetooth, have to set it up via WiFi.

Shouldn't be no more difficult than adding a printer to your network.

Got the Juwel HeliaLux Spectrum setup today, downloaded the app and sorted profiles out, it was a bit fiddly but once you get the hang of it not too bad. Just using one of the built in profiles to start with, looks ok, it was amazing to see the lights gradually going through a sunset phase and then into the moonlit phase.. Will be looking forward till tomorrow morning when they go through the sunrise phase.

All in all very happy with the system so far.

Oase filters will be installed at the next water change day, along with the new Co2 gear.

Busy day yesterday, intension was to get the water change done, install the two new Oase Biomaster thermo 850's that are replacing the Eheim filters, and replace the Co2 system. It wasn't to be, after producing the 180ltrs of RO and tap water mix needed for the water change it was getting towards mid-afternoon. So only one of the new filters was installed, all the existing media changed over from one of the Eheim's to the Oase, and 4ltrs of extra Matrix added to the new filter as the Oase 850 is much bigger than the Eheim. Connected up the new Co2 Art Pro-Elite regulator after removing the old one from the Fire extinguisher, and fitting the inline diffuser to the Oase and running the line between the diffuser to one of the bubble counters, but Co2 system wont be up and running until the other Oase filter is installed and connected up to the regulator and bubble counter via the inline diffuser on said Filter. Phew, it was now 8pm, and we had done enough for one day.

We also thinned out some of the plants during the water change.

Ian + Karen.
