My little 15 lt byorb host one amano shrimp and one nerite snail.
It's being set to become the home of a male betta.
I have cleaned the bottom and made it ready for the new guest. Well, after 2 days I already have a lot amount of waste.
Clusters of little brown pellets.

This has been going on for some days, and the culprit can only be the amano shrimp and/or the nerite snail.
I have been also told that it could be leftovers of food that create pellets of waste, and fragments of driftwood, which is present in the tank.
They seem poop to me and I am suspecting that my shrimp and my snail have a very big problem of diarrhea. I am sure I have overfed the 2 occup[ants, but not to the level of having so much poop.
Why so much waste? Is it normal?
Thanks

I think it's probably just the fact that the filters on those things are rubbish.
I wouldn't keep a betta in one personally, just not enough space for them.
I know they don't need a lot of space, but I'd have at least 28l for them with a decent filter.

They don’t need a lot of space but they do want it. :)

which biorb is it? They do three in 15L now

Baby Biorb - a bowl so can't fill all the way as not enough surface area for bettas
Life Pure - The better one of the three as its 'square' so good surface area
Decor - not too bad as its a cylinder, so good surface area

Nerites poo loads . I had one in shrimp tank and it was unbearable- tones of it. In the big tank I have 3 - and don’t really notice poo that much.

I suspect that these filters are the worst. All the wast stays there on the bottom. I have put another vertical filter anyway, and my betta seems quite happy, fortunately.

Ah, it’s recommended if you keep a Betta in a biorb, to leave a couple inches at top for oxygen exchange
