Exactly that. If you have to cut a bit off one of your established sponges :)

Thank you all for your advice.
Quick update - I’ve been out and bought a 54L breeder tank, the tetra starter tank.
It came with a carbon filter and another green and white filter stuck together aswell as a bag of ceramic balls.
I replaced the bag of ceramic balls with a bag of bio media from my main tank and also added a fine sponge from my main tank. Also added Seachem stability. I’ve put substrate in (sand-fresh)and some rocks and a little bit of hornwort from main tank.
It’s up and running and the temperature is the same as the main tank.
Question is am I now ready to add the fry to the tank?

Yes it’s ready for fry if they’re free swimming. Is the water from the main tank?

No I put fresh water in. Should I have used water from the main tank?

With fry you need to keep the water as similar as possible, that's why you would normally use tankwater instead of fresh, but you will need to do frequent (small) water changes anyway.

May as well, saves having to acclimatise them.

Shouldn’t make a massive difference either way, unless you have rocks or wood that count alter the ph slightly 🙃

I used a few slate pieces that were in the main tank but nothing that alters the Ph.
How often should I do a water change and how much should I change at a time do you reckon?

It only small changes 10-15% to keep the water clean and to remove any uneaten food/waste. I would say every 2/3 days, although I have done it every other day before now :)

Same as for any tank, weekly or more is best. The more you change, the quicker they’ll grow.
