I've started to populate the resources section with a few handy little calculators. If you can think of anything that would be helpful then do let me know

Just seen the flow rate calculator. You’re really advising a turnover of only 2.7x an hour?

Should be down as 4, let me check.
*edit*
Yeah I put the wrong version in. It’s down as 4 now which imo is at the high end for biological media and enough for mechanical to do its thing.

Trouble with that is if you go for a filter rated at 4, you’ll end up with about 2.5. The general advice is to aim for 10, which will get you about 6-7.

A fresh water tropical fish compatibility chart and a marine fish one as well if you like for newbies.
Just a thought.

“NOTE: Always check external filters max head height as this drastically affects the filters performance. A filter rated at 1000lph with a head height of 2m will provide roughly 1000lph at ground level and 500lph at a height of 1m”
Filter ratings are based on empty canisters. A filter rated at 1000 will give about 7-800 at ground level (with media). Less as it fills with mulm.
