Hi I’m new here and a new fishkeeper. I have two Pearl Gouramis and one of them has a pink lump on its nose the other is ok. Can someone suggest what the problem might be and how to fix. My tank is fully cycled and water changes every week along with water testing and gravel cleaning. None of my other fish are affected.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Can you get a clearer picture?

Does it look like damage or a growth?

Could be lymphocystis, which gouramies are more susceptible to than most. Or it may have had a head-on collision with something, like the glass...

Hi black ghost, getting a clearer picture is hard but I will try again but it looks like a growth. I can’t imagine a collision could do it but then I’m a newbie.

I agree, it does seem like a lot of damage for a collision. But if they’re spooked, fish can move quicker than the eye can follow, and it’s a blurry pic...

Is it smooth (lymphocystis) or fluffy like fungus? Did it appear suddenly?

As best as I can see it’s smooth and can only say it appeared suddenly but can’t be 100%on that.

So lymphocystis is called “cauliflower disease” because it has the shape of a cauliflower-Ish, looking like several lumps merged together?... but smooth, even a bit shiny. It can be white, yellow, pink or grey, or clearish.
It’s an untreatable virus but it doesn’t normally do any harm (on the mouth it can interfere with feeding) and goes away eventually.

It also could be bacterial and / or fungal. Often when a fish is diseased there’s more than one disease involved. Bacterial diseases are usually reddish.
