Hi all,

I know some of you have painted the back of your aquariums. May i ask what paint you used?

Satin emulsion, usually pale blue or matt black. My reef aquariums in the past I used Navy blue satin emulsion.

Make sure glass is clean, free from any dust or grease before painting. I used plain glass cleaner before applying, two coats is enough and once dry is surprisingly water resistant.

I use chalkboard (blackboard) paint on the back of my aquarium.
425L SeaBray Elite aquarium - Rio Mamoré (Bolivia) theme
4 x Cupid Cichlids, 14 x Cory caudimaculatus, 11 x Cory sterbai 51 x Reed Tetra, 4 x Honeycomb Bristlenose (L519)

I use tall plants as my background ;) - Anything works really, acrylic paint, emulsion, automotive etc.

I know you have to use stepladders to access your tank but if you could be so kind Mr. @fr499y, please define 'tall' in relation to your aquarium? :dodgy2:

I have a black background taped onto the back. Was much easier than painting and I can change it out if I wanted to.
240L Fluval Roma with Oase 600 Biomaster: 1 German red bristlenose, 4 male cherry barbs, 6 standard rummynose, 3 golden rummynose tetra, 9 emperor tetra, 14 cardinal tetra, 2 hengeli rasbora, 3 nerite snails, 1 adult Sulawesi snail and multiple juveniles continually appearing.

Parameters: gH2, kH1, pH7.4 (tap).
Fish fiend since October 2017.

Hi VM,

That was my intention too but was still curious about the type of paint in case i changed my mind :laugh:
